Since c 1980 I have been an illustrator and general creative bod for Daye Ryan’s Partizan Press, these days specialising in maps and flags. In addition I have contributed illustrations and other work to my friend Pete Berry at Baccus6mm and also to organisations such as OMM. Beyond this I have had a varied graphics life for Venner’s Emporium, Cienfuegos Press, the Roundhead Association, and many other historical and vaguely new age organisations. Amongst other things I have given many talks on flags to and for organisations such as the National Army Museum and the Royal Armouries, as well as a long series of ‘talking head’ gigs for Cromwell Productions. And then there was the day job ...

From 1972 I worked in publishing, design and advertising, and taught calligraphy at night school.


I have held many voluntary posts, including volunteer counsellor for people with terminal and life limiting conditions at Freshwinds in Birmingham; University Tutor; Secretary of the Roundhead Association (for something in the region of 16 years, give or take); Member of Senate at the University of Birmingham; Member of various faculty boards and committees; Assistant Editor (Art) of The Psychologist; FoC and Branch Committee member of SLADE&PW, and so on.
