Calligraphy has been a part of my life since I was very young. It has direct and strong links with my interest in letterforms in general, in symbolism, religious forms and expression and, ultimately, flags and heraldry. It is one of the ways historically in which people have tried to express themselves and their ideas beyond the mundane. Certainly when viewed philosophically letterforms have a magical quality to them, even in their everyday use. But they are also fascinating in their own right, like most other dangerous technologies.
